SHO project

For my semester project I wanted to concentrate on the social issues of females in video games, specifically how female gamers are treated, and how they are portrayed in video games.  Along with criticizing the current portrayal of the "traditional" roles of patriarchy that are encouraged in the games out in market today, the publishers only target certain games to cater a certain audience in mind, discounting those who do not fit under that category.

For example, the youtube video below about tropes that are inherent in video games that "include" females.

While this project started off last semester, I originally intended for it to be a manga/comic style format.  While I am still continuing this project, I am taking liberties to make a more of a non-linear and nontraditional manga influenced format.

The manga is centered around a girl who chooses to create a male character in an online multi-player video game because of how she is/was viewed and treated when playing a female character.  I plan to distribute and publish the manga and illustrations online.
