A media source outside of what is mainstream, there is an online magazine called The Scavenger. It is an online portal of features, commentary, and news that you're unlikely to find in mainstream media. Articles on The Scavenger are written by a myriad bloggers, authors, emerging writers, and professional journalists. Whereas mainstream media content is often censored and dictated by corporate concerns, The Scavenger offers intelligent commentary on a range of issues in and out of the United States and offers information that is not often found in other forms of media.
The Scavenger also has a Facebook page where articles and content are shared to the public.
This online media source is successful because it brings up topics and issues that would never make it to mainstream media in television, magazines, and newspapers. It is also written by talented writers who keep the content as real as possible.
