Asian-Americans in the Media: YouTube... And Hollywood?

So I kind of tweaked my project a bit... I added the point of YouTube since there's a great variety of Asian-Americans who've become YouTube celebrities.. They, also, wanted to speak out about our identity in society and mass media.

I came across articles from the New York Times, Hyper Allergic, as well as academic journals who talked about the Asian-American identity in the media, and how we "take over" or "run" YouTube.

But what really got me motivated into doing this project was this Memo to Hollywood I found by the Media Action Network for Asian-Americans. They basically wrote a letter to Hollywood saying how they restrict and limit roles for Asians and suggests to find a balance for better representations.

HERE'S A COPY OF THE LETTER! You might want to check it out. It's pretty cool.

So.. Just to jump on the bandwagon.. Guess what I did? I DID A VLOG! JustlikeeveryotherAsianAmericanYouTuber! Haha. But I didn't list all the stereotypes in my vlog, it would've gone over the limit.

On the lighter note, in order to produce my project, why not gather up some clips from famous YouTubers to support the Asian-American community in the new media we have today.

I also used books that told me the history of Asian-Americans in the media, but.. Not surprised. There weren't as much.

Here's a link to my sources! As well as some links you should check out!
