The Certainly Not Brief Wondrous Life of Darleny Garcia

Hello,  fellow bloggers

My name is Darleny Garcia. The title of my post was inspired by a novel titled The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Dominican author Junot Diaz. I come from a Dominican background and the novel beautifully captures Dominican culture, history and rich colorful characters such as my crazy but loving family members.

I love to read. However, looking at this syllabus I don't know if that statement would remain true by the end of the semester. Just kidding Professor. Reading is just one of my passions. I also greatly enjoy drawing, painting and photography.

I am currently a senior at Rutgers-Newark double majoring in Fine Arts and History and minoring in Art History-didn't I tell you I love to read. I am also attempting to teach myself Portuguese. I took an intro course at Rutgers so hopefully I'm on my way.

However, my main focus is on my studies and senior thesis show on May 2, 2013 which coincidentally  is on my birthday. Happy birthday to me!! The senior thesis exhibit is open to all. Theres a mind blowing amount of great talent this year so don't miss out.

The photos displayed here are part of my photography book Down the Shore Everything's Alright that can be previewed and purchased on Blurb.com. These photos were taken at Belmar after hurricane Sandy.
