This is me

Hey all,

My name is Ithiopia Success.  I, however, prefer to be called Topy.  I am a junior at this fine establishment called Rutgers University.  I am majoring in Video Production.  I would love to focus more on narrative production as I wish to be a writer.  I have written four novels that I am deathly afraid of anyone ever reading and I am trying to get over that fear.

My parents are from Guyana, I spent all of my summers there growing up, and the only thing I take from the experience is the food.  I am a foodie, after all.  I am an aquarius that will soon be celebrating my 30th birthday!!!  WooHoo!!!  And I am a proud mother of an amazingly, smart nine year-old girl.

I am a very shy individual, but once I warm up to you, I am the biggest goofball there is.  To know me, is to love me.

Will forever be my biggest accomplishment

Greetings! My name is Ian Costello

Greetings! My name is Ian Costello.  I am a senior here at Rutgers-Newark (the most ethnically diverse school in the nation).  It is at this fine institution that I study the art of fine art.  I am a painter.  It can be hard as a painter to commit your life to something that makes so little sense ostensibly, but I'm fairly confident there's something to it.

In addition to being a painter I enjoy a less than lucrative career as a musician.  I play drums, bass, guitar, and despite reasonable opposition consider myself a singer.  I play with several groups including the New York based act From Below (www.musicfrombelow.com), and Rutgers Newark's only performing jazz ensemble Mosaic.

I have a deep seated love for philosophy, metaphysics, and mysticism.  I devote long hours both to the propagation and development of ever more sophisticated thoughts, but try to keep a balanced diet by practicing principles of "mindlessness".

Hello There

This is a still shot from my last short film: Stainless Rose

Hi. My name is Rudy Mancuso, a third-year Rutgers student currently studying music and video production. Music has had an immense impact on my life; I consider it not only an art form, but an intricate language. With varied instruments (piano, guitar, drums) I've been able to create my own material as well as creatively communicate with people all over the world. This passionate interest in music progressively led me into the direction of video production/filmmaking; another creative art form that was easy for me to become addicted to. Before I knew it, I found myself shooting commercials for local businesses in neighboring cities, as well as composing musical scores for independent films. I've developed my skills in relation to both fields; including composing, shooting, editing, writing, directing, and producing. Although I have learned so much in the school's programs, I have acquired more skills and knowledge by physically going out and participating in intensive work, especially in hands-on environments. I hope to graduate as soon as I can, only to either apply to graduate film school or attain a professional internship position in this field; I cannot see myself doing anything else. The art of music and video dominate my world. In today's day and age, art is most expressed through media, not to mention, the source of my biggest inspirations derive from exposure through media. Overall, I am a natural artisan. All I want to do is create.

Here we go...

Hi everybody, I'm Scott (the ragged double-knit character in the leather jacket). I'm gonna keep this as short and sweet as possible. I'm a journalism major, and on again off again musician from Chicago, IL. Lately I've been trying my hand at writing poems and short stories.

In accordance with Professor Cacoilo's wishes, I've begrudging agreed to make a Twitter account in the interest of getting through the class in one piece: https://twitter.com/ScottNisley

I've noticed that while social media have proven to have held a valuable role in certain situations, the very values and ideals that social media like Twitter and Facebook live by ultimately promote shallowness, self promotion, and narcissism among users.

Make no mistake, I'm not disagreeing to disagree, or to be a contrarian--It just seems like those qualities ultimately lead to an unhappy, lonely sort of existence, marked by superficialities and bad vibes.

I love basketball, and I've been a Lakers fan ever since the age of 10. I'm actually going to a game next week.

Just like everyone I have dreams, big dreams. More than anything though I just want to live happy and I'll be satisfied with where ever life takes me.

Fair warning: I have a loud uncontrollable laugh, and once I start... it's very hard to stop.

A little scoop of Yassmin

My name is Yassmin Sherif, I'm majoring in Journalism at Rutgers University and due to graduate in May. I transferred to Rutgers Newark during fall 2011 from William Paterson University. Although I am a writer and it is my greatest passion, however, I never really know what to say when it comes to writing about myself, I absolutely abhore it. Well mabye that's a little too much over exaggerating but point is made.

My dream is to be a successful career woman, which means absolutely be self depedent. I long to be an author, and hopefully one day I can make it and be a great Host like Barbara Walter. I am currently interning at Barnabas Health for a Public Relations Position. Although I have no background experience about PR, but I am very interested to see what it is about.

Talking personal, I'm engaged to the love of my life we've been engaged for 5 months and hoping to marry this summer. What I'm actually excited about is that I'll be moving to the Netherlands and I'm going to live there for about 3 years then back to the U.S.

One of my favorite pictures of us, was taken in Egypt, December 2012.
Here's one of my favorite song

Just a little about me - Carol Woo

Hello everyone!  My name is Carol and I'm a Fine Arts major, with a concentration in Digital Illustration.  I'm a senior and looking forward to graduating at the end of this semester!

With Professor Caçoilo's guidance, I created the SHO project in Art and Women last semester.  I'm creating a manga along with a short animation which is centered around the topic of the video gaming culture and how females are treated behind the anonymity of the internet.  It is about a girl who decides to create a male character in an online multi-player video game because of how she was treated and viewed when she played a "female" character.  I'll be presenting this currently on-going project at the Fine Art Senior Show in May!

Make Those Six Points Out To Cash

Hi, I'm James, this weeks 'most likely to be mistaken for a professor.' Hopefully that chuckle worthy moment will be the last one as I close in on graduating at the end of this semester. I'm a journalism major. I have my ideas of what I want to do with this once I'm done but for now I'm keeping them close to the vest as I prostitute my writing for an hourly wage in order to pay the rent. That's just the cost of doing business this way folks. I don't tweet much but in the spirit of the class @sidf8. I'll keep it short and sweet here as I mail it in for the sweet six points

Six makes me think of three and when I think of three I think of.......Magic numbers.

Brief Intoduction

Hello classmates!

My name is Nicole Araujo and this is my fourth year at Rutgers University. I am majoring in Journalism with a minor in Criminal Justice. I have always been interested in media and how it affects our everyday lives and in the past year or so I have become more interested in the law and ethics behind media. I am planning on attending law school after I graduate focusing on media and entertainment law. When I first told my parents I wanted to go to school for journalism they looked at me like I was a little crazy, I guess they were hoping I would become a doctor or something. They asked me if I wanted to work for a newspaper, which is usually the response I get from most people when I tell them I’m majoring in journalism and media studies, but little do they know there is so much more than just writing for a newspaper. Media is all around us and it's inevitable to not surround yourself with it so I figured I might as well be a part of it!

The beginning of this month I started interning at Warner Brothers Records working with their publicity department. Public relations wasn't something I was thinking about when I first started at Rutgers, but it is definitely growing on me now that I've started my internship. I feel like I might be in school for the rest of my life, but I swear everyday I become interested in something new and eventually I'll figure out exactly what i want to do with the rest of my life. For now I'm just trying to graduate and see where the next few months take me!

Hope everyone has a great semester :)

Here's the press website for Warner Brothers Records Press if anyone is interested on learning a little bit about the artists that are signed with us!

E. Kropilak

My name is Erin Kropilak, I was born and raised in Kearny NJ. I am a junior here at RU returning from a 4 year hiatus from school. During that time I worked as a visual merchandiser and retail manager for h&m and Banana Republic. I decided to come back to finish my Bachelors in Art with a concentration in Art History, transferring over from a major in biology.
I consider myself technologically unsophisticated in social media outlets but I made a twitter account for this class and I'm willing to try it out. If successful maybe I'll explore Instagram ;-)

Into- Idris Mitchell

Hello,

My name is Idris Mitchell. I was raised in Newark all my life, so I consider myself to be a "True" Brick City boy at heart. This is my sophomore year here at Rutgers and I can honestly say i enjoy it. My current job is to referee for fencing matches in New Jersey. I am also a fencer and I take my sport very seriously. I frequently push fencing up my priority list ahead of school work and other activities. I know its bad but I love what I do. I am a frequent traveler because of my sport, which I enjoy except for the flying part. I CANT STAND FLYING!!!

Since I have to make a twitter... here it is https://twitter.com/idrissm24

Mini Post - Introduction

Fashion Collage
Sports
Hi,
My name is Shardae White, I'm a Junior.  I am majoring in Journalism and minoring in english with a pre-med track. Just from seeing my academic track, one can tell I'm not the typical person. I was born a California princess and raised in the hustle and bustle of New York. My life is one big contradiction. I'm a girly-girly who would kill to go to every football game. I love fashion and played every sport you could think of. I don't enjoy the company of people, yet I became a vegan because I love animals. Traveling has always been priority in my life, I love traveling and venturing to places in which I can gain knowledge and perspective. I'm a music junkie as well, I listen to music from all different cultures and from time periods way before my time. In a nut shell, my goal in life is to become a fashionista physician, who travels the world to help children, write about it, and on my leisure time enjoy music, sit court side at games, and enjoy exotic vegan friendly food. A girl can dream :)

A tad bit about little me.

Hi my name is Jessica. I am a sophomore at Rutgers and is currently trying to raise my grades and get transferred into the business building, which is a block away give or take. I enjoy reading, music, and just sitting outside enjoying the beautiful weather when it is warm. I tend to go on Tumblr way to much but thats usually where I like to leave my mind wandering. I suck at writing so please excuse my grammar and what not.

I want to major in business management and get a career in event planning. Hopefully my goals work out or I'll be one of those people at the end of their life that are cranky and bitter at the world. I absolutely hate disappointing  myself so hopefully all my big hopes and dreams happen or I will end up being bitter and cranky in the end.

I am extremely excited for this summer because my friends and I have planned a week long trip to Montreal, Canada. This will be our first trip together for a full week and we're just all very excited to be there and just enjoy our youth.

I'm pretty excited for this class since it seems like so much fun but I won't lie... the final project does scare me a bit.

Snippet about me

Hi my name is Kesi Clarke and I am a Junior here at Rutgers Newark. I am majoring in Journalism and minoring in Public Service. I want to also further my education after I graduate and go to Graduate school.
I went to a performing and fine arts school for seven years and I focused on theater. I really enjoy theater and in high school I used to direct plays and do various other things behind the stage like help build the set to helping with the costumes and I also did some acting. I would love to work on set for movies and TV shows.
One of my biggest goals is to do more travelling all around the world. I really enjoy travelling and I was blessed to be able to travel to several different islands. I really like to experience different cultures and taste different foods.
I would love to have an internship at seventeen magazine because I really enjoy reading their magazine every month. I really appreciate the way they try to target all different kinds of girls and  have topics that girls out of high school can still relate to.

My interests include: Fashion, Film (did I say I love movies?), Music, & Food!!
A fun fact is that I'm half Bermudian so when I went to go visit my family this past Christmas I was able to go horseback riding and that was my first time being on a full grown horse. I had a really good time and it was such an amazing experience because I love horses :)

Heidi Huerta - Introduction Post

This is very true.

Hello everyone! My name is Heidi Huerta and I am a transfer student from Rutgers New Brunswick (although this is my second semester here). I'm a Journalism and Spanish major with the hopes of working in broadcast media. I wouldn't mind producing a show much like Good Morning America but yet again my guilty pleasure is reality TV.

I currently intern with MTV News and am thus infatuated with Viacom (you should totally visit the MTV News website for the latest celebrity buzz, by the way...not a shameless plug in). I am also interested in Public Relations - so basically I'll go where ever the wind takes me in this broad communications field. I also work for RU-tv as a segment producer on the Newark campus, so if you ever see me filming an event you better be ready for me to interview you. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!

As for my plans for the immediate future: my focus is the summer. My family is from Spain so we visit often and I couldn't imagine having it any other way. As much as I am a city girl (and I do love the city) - there's nothing like the country.

My town in Spain

Other little minor facts about me: I'm a vegetarian, I'm a COFFEE ADDICT - and that is an understatement, I'm part of New York Women in Communications which is an amazing organization (check out their website). I LOVE to bake. As a matter of fact my senior year in high school I contemplated going to school for it. I still have hopes that I'll own the next Crumbs or Magnolia Cupcake Bakery. As for traveling, I just really want to go to New Orleans, it seems like so much fun.

I'll leave you with one of my favorite songs of all time which people judge me for!

I'm super excited for this semester! Feel free to follow me on Instagram @Heidi_Huerta

Let me Re-introduce myself :D

" What I believe is what I become. I believe I am special and that there will never be another like me ... not ever. I believe I have been blessed with certain talents that will allow me to serve a purpose higher than my own. I believe we are all connected and that despite our differences we are one. I believe in the power of love and its ability to heal all wounds, I believe there are no acts of coincidence only acts God that work miraculously in my life. I believe that the lessons I learn will be the lessons I teach.
BELIEVE*

Let me Re-Introduce myself, Patricia is my first name but everyone calls me PK. I am a transfer student from School of Visual arts, NYC. My Major is Fine Arts with a Minor in Art History but I also have a big interest in Social Work. I enjoy helping people and making people feel positive about the person that they are. I hope to be able to do that through my work someday. I currently intern at the Barat Foundation in downtown Newark. It is a non- profit Art organization that specializes bringing together the youth in the community and Professional Artists to work on Community projects. We create Mural’s around the city of Newark and Animoudles, which are sculptures that march every year in our Peace and Art Parade.

I would consider myself a mixed Media Artist. I love to paint with vibrant colors and abstract designs based off the way I feel. I also draw and create wood block prints, which I print on tote bags and tee Shirts. I spend most of my time working at a Comedy Club (Scotty’s) on the weekends. I also enjoy working out and long boarding throughout the city. I started my own small business April 2011. It’s called Peekz Art I make handmade Jewelry and sell Collectable pieces items as Well.
